4-5 star hotels and resorts in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands (Hamilton Island) would like to offer international candidates paid training and work experience. The Whitsunday group of islands is located on the central coast of Queensland, Australia (almost halfway between Cairns and Brisbane). The area is well known for having beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters. The world-famous Whitehaven Beach and the Great Barrier Reef are right on their doorstep.

Job Description:

Work Schedule:

Participants will be working morning, evening and weekend shifts. Shifts and schedules may change during the course of the program.

Average Weekly Hours:

40 hours are guaranteed. (Overtime may be available during busy periods).

$180/week

The overtime rate is $10.53/hr

Work Uniforms:

Food Service trainees must bring black pants and black shoes. Guest Service trainees must also bring dress pants (no jeans or cargo pants). Staff shirts will be provided.

No security deposit

Housing:

Dormitory with internet, kitchen, TV and other amenities. FREE. No security deposit. 3 meals per day are provided as well.

On site transportation:

No transportation needed as housing is within the property; walking distance.

Other Information:

Arrive at the Denver Int’l Airport (DEN). Pick-up up and drop-off by the employer representative.

  1. Employer (HRD) will conduct skype webcam interviews with candidates who are shortlisted. In some cases managers at both EPC and SMR will want to interview the applicants.
  2. All applications must be received no later than December 31st, 2010.
  3. Trainees and interns will participate in five courses (e-Cornell) during their 12- or 18-month program. Classes include Supervisor and Leadership Management, Introduction to Tourism, Introduction to Marketing, Resort Management and Food and Beverage Management. Total cost is $175 per course per trainee. Employer pays $100 and participants should expect to pay up to $75 for course fees. These fees are subject to change.
  4. Both EPC and SMR are in isolated locations with no public transportation and it is cold in the winter.
  5. Remaining recruiter fees will be deducted from the paychecks in $50 increments until the fees have been paid in full. Trainees may choose to pay any portion of the fees upon arrival, but it is not required. If a trainee leaves the program before the fees have been paid in full, he or she will pay the remaining balance upon departure. These fees help fund admin and insurance costs, as well as international programming and classroom training. Trainees may be required to pay additional fees for the classroom training (above) or excursions.
